Simplified Accounting
Most general accounting packages are designed to help you accurately "count the beans".
But they don't address the unique needs of the small, installing security company.
For example, they may not be able to easily help you track things like zones, installed
equipment at each site, contact lists, and false alarm incidents.
Cornerstone's preferred "CRM" software handles all this, and allows you to manage the
many recurring (and, if you choose, non-recurring) transactions in one place. Then, at month's
end, we forward a recap extracted from the alarm software, which will give you totals for such items as:
- Billings (dollars and total invoices)
- Receipts
- Payments made
- Ending receivables
- Ending accounts and net change
From this one-page recap, you can easily book the necessary accounting entries in a general ledger
package such as QuickBooks® or Peachtree®. As a result, you can take advantage of 1) the efficiencies
of managing accounts and account details in a software package designed for the industry, while 2) easily
adding the accounting tallies to your general accounting software to maintain accurate P & L statements and balance sheets.
